1 Day Tour Camel Trekking in Merzouga Desert

This trip (1 Night in the desert) begins in the evening. We organize the camel ride for the night from a hotel near the sand dunes. The camels will be packed with food, blankets, and other essentials. The trek starts directly into the desert for 1.5 hours. We will spend the night in an equipped camp with drum music in the middle of the Sahara. This is a great opportunity to take lovely pictures of the sunset and sunrise.

When we arrive at the camp, we walk to the high dunes to see the sunset. It will be a magical night with a clear sky and sparkling stars. During the first night, we will have a wonderful dinner around a campfire and spend the night in nomad tents. In the morning, we will ride the camels back to Merzouga. You’ll have breakfast and shower in the hotel in Merzouga.

1 Day Tour Desert Sunset And Sunrise in Merzouga Desert

The Sunset tour begins around 5:30 pm. It takes almost half an hour to reach the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi on a camel. We will leave the camels about 80 meters from the highest dune of Merzouga. Those who want to see a panoramic view must climb to the top, which takes another 10 minutes. If you prefer not to hike up the highest dunes, the area around the camel “parking” is perfect for watching the sunset. After enjoying this short time, we travel back to the village. This tour includes a stop at the garden where you will get a short explanation about the canal system.

The Sunrise Tour starts early and takes 35 minutes to reach the highest dune of Merzouga. This tour includes a visit to the garden on the way back. You don’t need to set an alarm clock for this tour. Enjoy your night, and we will come around for a wake-up call.

Rent a 4×4 in the desert on the way of the Paris-Dakar Rally for a quick and fun adventure! We will visit the Gnawa music in Khamlia, Nomad people, mountains, stones of the desert, Berber villages, and an oasis.

Tours depart from our house in the middle of the village. We organize different 4×4 excursions. Contact us to discuss the program in detail.

We start in the direction of the Gnawa music in the village of blacks from Mali and Sudan. After listening and dancing, our adventure continues on the Paris-Dakar Rally route, crossing the track of the desert mines Mefes. After 30 minutes, we reach the stones of the desert. It will be fantastic. We will stop the car for half a day to have tea and lunch with nomads. You will experience how people live in the desert during sandstorms and hot summers.

After lunch, we continue to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, always on the Paris-Dakar Rally track. We will arrive at the end of Erg Chebbi, take a break to take photos, and then pass through Berber villages. We will witness the sunset in the sand dunes closer to our village.
